• Auckland Council should sell its controversial downtown headquarters and boost its coffers by $300 million, the city’s mayor says.

The council tower at 135 Albert St has hit the headlines over an estimated $27m worth of repairs needed on its granite facade.

But Mayor Len Brown says once the work is done the building could sell for $250m to $300m.
