Agents accused of avoiding ‘thorough’ building inspectors to push through sales

  • “Soft touch” building inspectors are being recommended to vendors and buyers by some real estate agents, inspectors say.

Up to three quarters of homes sold in the heated Wellington market are now going through with vendors supplying a building report, a Harcourts manager has estimated.

Some agents are encouraging sellers to provide builders reports to prospective buyers, and are even telling them who to use – or who not to use.
