Auckland sees massive rent increases – but not in the places you’d expect

• The fact Auckland rental property prices are rising will surprise no one – but where they are rising the fastest just might.

The average rent in the region has gone up 21 per cent in the past five years, from $440 in 2012 to $520 in 2016.

But prices are rising quickest in Auckland’s most far-flung districts, according to new data released by Trade Me.
