Environment Canterbury boosts inner city workforce in new $51 million building

  • Environment Canterbury (ECan) has all of its 450 staff under one roof for the first time in five years.

The new building on Tuam St, in central Christchurch, cost $51 million – $33m of which came from ECan’s insurance payout from its demolished Kilmore St premises, while the rest was borrowed.

Commissioner David Bedford said contractors Naylor Love completed the 4 Green Star building on time, and at 120 per cent of code, handing over the keys in late March.
