Family’s new $800k Christchurch property found to contain asbestos

  • Monique and Garry Bond spent $800,000 on a property in upmarket Christchurch to build their dream home, only to learn it was contaminated with asbestos.

Southern Response has launched a multi-agency investigation into the couple’s Fendalton land, where the insurer demolished a house three years ago.

An excavation contractor shut down the site on Anzac Day, on a residential block on Clyde Rd, after discovering what appeared to be white asbestos.
