Ferrymead commercial area booming on back of Christchurch hill suburbs rebuild

  • Nearly 40 new commercial units are turning Christchurch’s sleepy Ferrymead into a retail and hospitality hot-spot.

Christchurch property developers are building a web of cafes, restaurants and other shops, including a gym, to catch business from wealthy neighbouring suburbs.

With 35,000 vehicles passing by each day, the coastal suburb has become a magnet for property developers.

Mitre 10 has bought 1.5 hectares at the back of the old Tumblar Products site on Ferry Rd for a stand-alone trade store.
