First-home buyers in Wellington feel the heat and do it anyway

  • Houses might be half the price, but first-home buyers in the Wellington region are facing the same competition as their Auckland counterparts.

With stories of people making offers within hours of viewing a property just once, it’s just as difficult to get that first foot on the ladder.

Aaron and Lucy Thompson, both 24, say they had been looking for a home to buy for nine months, before finally moving into their first home, in Upper Hutt, over Easter.
