The redeveloped Sydney Fish Market will become a tourist drawcard to rival the Opera House according to NSW Premier Dominic Perrotet as he launched the start of the $750 million overhaul on Tuesday.
Mr Perrotet said the current site was already a ‘wonderful tourist attraction’ but that the run-down surrounds of the market in inner-city Pyrmont was ‘sad’ and requires rejuvenation.
‘It needs a facelift and we’ve been saying this for a long time. It’s sad here,’ Mr Perrottet said.

The government hopes the post-lockdown project will bolster the fragile state economy in the post-lockdown ear, by creating 700 jobs during construction as well as another 700 on completion, while putting hundreds of millions of dollars into the bank accounts of suppliers.
The project will deliver 6000 square metres of public space and improve pedestrian and cycling links to the precinct.
