Grand Designs NZ Episode 3 is all about the great escape.
Solo dad Sky Mason of Tairua has a piece of land he wants to build on. But it’s no ordinary site – it’s on an island 10km off-shore, which means it’s also off-grid.
Mason’s a local lad who knows what he’s doing. He trained as a builder, and is now a successful property developer and a “big fish” in the community. We can see he’s putting his mark on the place – he’s literally carving up the hillside above the town to build low-density eco-built housing. He’s also upgrading the marina.
