What happens to the Playboy mansion now?

A year ago, the new owner struck a deal with Playboy Enterprises, the parent company of Hef’s magazine, to buy the crumbling mansion and pay $US1million a year in upkeep on the property.

Billionaire Daren Metropoulos purchased the mansion for $US100 million after protracted negotiations in August 2016.  As part of the deal, he agreed to the unusual caveat that Hefner and his younger wife Crystal Harris, live at the property for the remainder of the ageing publisher’s life.

The 29-room mansion had originally been listed for sale for $US200 million before selling for half that price.
