Paula, an extraordinary 18-year-old from Palmerston North, faces a challenging battle with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer. Diagnosed recently, Paula’s life took an unexpected turn, yet his courage remains unwavering, inspiring his community to rally in support. Raised by a loving mother, Paula lost his father to cancer in 2021. At only 15, he became a steadfast figure of strength for his mother and four sisters, embodying the resilience of a true warrior.
Paula is an extraordinary 18 year old young man whose spirit shines brightly even in adversity.
A natural athlete, Paula attended Palmerston North Boys High School, excelling in rugby, volleyball, and representing Manawatu in Rugby League. His friends and teammates recall a vibrant young man with a contagious energy and warmth that brightened every room. Tragically, his recent treatments with chemotherapy and radiation have not been successful, and Paula’s vision and overall health are quickly deteriorating. Now, he urgently needs an unfunded drug that offers a glimmer of hope for easing his symptoms.
The community, deeply moved by Paula’s story, has been inspired by the kindness and generosity that Paula and his family have always shown to those around them. Through the generous support of Go Media NZ, who have donated a $5,000 digital billboard campaign, Paula’s story is reaching people across the region.
