Singapore’s real estate community mourned the loss of Mr. Dennis Wee, a revered figure, who passed away on April 3 at the age of 71 following a battle with cancer. Fondly remembered as a vibrant personality, Mr. Wee was celebrated by family, friends, and colleagues on April 4 for his entrepreneurial spirit, zest for life, and sense of humor.

Announcing his passing on Instagram, his daughter Daphne Wee described him as the epitome of a loving family man and a respected leader who peacefully departed surrounded by his loved ones at home.

Establishing the Dennis Wee Group (DWG) in 1992, Mr. Wee crafted a prominent legacy in the real estate industry. The firm’s renown led to its acquisition by PropNex Realty in 2017 for a reported sum of $5 million, a move that bolstered PropNex’s standing as Singapore’s largest real estate agency.

Ismail Gafoor, CEO of PropNex Realty, lamented Mr. Wee’s passing, highlighting his dedication to his staff and his enduring commitment to life, even amidst his battle with cancer. Mr. Gafoor praised Mr. Wee’s resilience and positive outlook, recalling their recent interactions filled with laughter and vitality.

Reflecting on Mr. Wee’s influence, Eugene Lim, a key executive officer at ERA Singapore, reminisced about his early days at ERA, where Mr. Wee’s energy and expertise left a lasting impression. Mr. Lim credited Mr. Wee as a mentor whose guidance significantly shaped his real estate career, fondly recalling shared moments over meals of “the world’s best” nasi padang.

In retirement, Mr. Wee indulged his passion for cooking by starting a home business selling Hokkien mee, which gained widespread popularity, attracting a four-week waitlist for orders.

Throughout his career, Mr. Wee’s innovative marketing strategies and impactful training programs, such as “Standing In The Heat,” left a profound impact on the industry.
