- More than a quarter of Stonewood Homes’ Christchurch staff, including the general manager, have been laid off by the company’s new owners.
The 15 staff were told at a meeting at 2pm on Friday that their contracts were being terminated – a fortnight before the 90-day trial period ended.
It is understood the building firm’s general manager, Alistair Pearson, is among those looking for a new job.
A family member of one of the staff, who would not be identified, said the announcement came as a shock.
