- A multimillion-dollar housing development in Houghton Valley, on Wellington’s south coast, will finally go ahead after residents failed in an expensive legal campaign against it.
Friends of Houghton Valley spent about $40,000 mounting a judicial review opposing the development. Developer Immaculate Construction spent $50,000 on the legal process, and Wellington City Council spent what it described as “a five-figure sum”.
