Burton Silver

PHOTO: ‘Bogor’ creator Burton Silver and his family are farewelling their multi-generational family home in Scorching Bay, Wellington after 125 years.

When a house has been in the family for 125 years, it’s tough to say goodbye.

Burton Silver calls it “an absolute wrench” and it cuts him up to talk about it.

But the creator of the Bogor woodsman comic strip and several books, has many wonderful memories of the waterfront house at Scorching Bay in Wellington where he visited as a child, then lived as an adult.

It’s just two years since the family sold the bach in the bush up above the house, where Bogor was penned each week. That sale was difficult enough; but this one is worse for the family.
