PHOTO: JOHN KIRK-ANDERSON/STUFF Karwin Davidson is tired of paying rent on a house that is colder than outside.

Karwin Davidson might be warmer living back on the streets than in his freezing, mouldy rental home.

It’s a sunny 12-degree Celsius Christchurch winter morning when Stuff visits, but inside the Waltham villa a temperature gauge struggles to get above 6C.

At night, it can plummet to -5C inside the home he pays $260 for a week.

“I feel like I’m living back on the streets in like an abandoned house.”

Davidson said he had spent three years trying to get his landlord, Ray White, to deal with black mould, holes in floors and a leaky roof.
