Glenn Close Trades New York Glam for ‘Modest’ Montana Home and Expands Real Estate Portfolio
Award-winning actress Glenn Close, renowned for her roles in Fatal Attraction and The Wife, has left behind the bright lights of New York City for a quieter, more personal life in Bozeman, Montana. The 77-year-old star shared her decision to relocate in 2019, a move driven by her desire to be closer to family and reconnect with nature.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Close revealed that her new residence is a “modest” 1892 brick house that offers stunning mountain views from its porch. “Today, my home is in Bozeman, Montana. All of my siblings live here,” Close said. “My modest, 1892 brick house has a porch where I can see the mountains and say hi to neighbors.”
A Cozy, Yet Elegant Home in Bozeman
Close’s Bozeman home, which spans 2,316 square feet, is a three-bedroom, three-bathroom retreat just steps away from the charming downtown area. Despite being a “modest” residence compared to her previous celebrity lifestyle, the home boasts several features that reflect Close’s refined taste. The property includes a sunny backyard, an open floor plan, and a kitchen outfitted with stainless steel appliances and an island – perfect for entertaining family and friends.
But Close isn’t stopping there. The actress has big plans for her Bozeman real estate portfolio. “I’m building a larger house about a half-hour outside of town. It’s going to be my Zen farmhouse and our family sanctuary,” she explained. “In the back will be a stone cottage, reminding me of the best years of my childhood.”
A Shift to Simpler Living and Family Roots
Close’s decision to leave New York’s hustle and bustle and settle in the serene beauty of Montana reflects her desire to return to her roots. She shared that her love for nature has remained a constant throughout her life, providing solace during difficult times. “When I was little, I got solace in nature, and that has never changed,” Close said.
The Hollywood icon emphasized the importance of family and legacy in her new phase of life. “I always tried to create that same potential for my family, especially now to come back here and be with my siblings and have a piece of land outside of town that will always be here for my daughter and her children. That’s my legacy,” she added.
A Hollywood Star Embraces Personal Fulfillment
Despite her retreat from the high-profile lifestyle of New York, Close remains very much a part of the Hollywood scene. She stars in the newly released Netflix film Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. The legendary actress is also set to appear in the upcoming Hulu series All’s Fair, created by Kim Kardashian and Ryan Murphy, which will explore the world of a successful women-led law firm.
Even with her thriving career, Close is focused on personal fulfillment. She recently discussed her love life in an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, explaining that she has not pursued another relationship since her 2015 split from biotech engineer David Shaw. “I’m very happy right now,” she said, embracing the joy of solitude and her professional success.
