One of the world’s most recognisable fitness influencers has added another impressive property to her portfolio.

Wellness entrepreneur and social media star Kayla Itsines has secured a spectacular waterfront estate on the Gold Coast for $13 million, ending what she described as a surprisingly difficult search for the perfect trophy home.

Itsines, co-founder of the hugely successful Sweat fitness app, purchased the luxury residence with her husband Jae Woodroffe after months of inspecting prestige properties across some of southeast Queensland’s most exclusive suburbs.

The couple ultimately secured the sprawling Mermaid Waters estate before it even reached its scheduled auction later this month.

A Massive Waterfront Estate With Resort-Style Luxury

The newly acquired property sits on an enormous 2,280 square metre triple block and boasts an incredible 81.5 metres of water frontage.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion offers a long list of high-end luxury features including:

  • A private tennis court

  • Infinity swimming pool

  • Cocktail bar and wine cellar

  • Built-in trampoline for family fun

  • Marble entertaining terrace

  • Private pontoon and boat shed at the water’s edge

The design allows the home to function like a private luxury resort, with seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living areas.

The Home Search That Almost Led to Renting

Despite her global success, Itsines admitted the hunt for the right property proved more challenging than expected.

The couple spent months exploring the highly competitive Gold Coast prestige market and even considered renting before eventually finding the right opportunity.

After struggling to secure the perfect home, Itsines enlisted a buyer’s agent to help navigate the tight luxury property market.

She said the move made a significant difference in accessing the right opportunities at the right time.

From Fitness Guides to a Global Fitness Empire

Kayla Itsines rose to international fame through her Bikini Body Training fitness guides, which quickly attracted a massive global following.

That success later evolved into the Sweat fitness app, which became one of the world’s most popular digital workout platforms.

The business was sold to a US fitness giant in 2021 for a reported US$150 million before being repurchased by its founders in 2023.

Today, Itsines commands a social media following of more than 15 million people and is estimated to have a personal net worth of around $170 million.

A Growing Luxury Property Portfolio

The new Gold Coast mansion adds to an already impressive real estate portfolio.

In 2024, Itsines sold her renovated 1920s bungalow in the Adelaide suburb of Malvern for a record-breaking $7.375 million.

Her move to Queensland also brought her geographically closer to former fiancé and business partner Tobi Pearce, with whom she shares a daughter.

Itsines married Woodroffe in December 2023, and the couple also have a young son together.

A Standout Property in a Booming Luxury Market

The Mermaid Waters estate is considered one of the suburb’s most impressive residential holdings thanks to its enormous land size and extensive water frontage.

Luxury homes of this scale are rarely available, particularly in tightly held Gold Coast waterfront suburbs.

Completed in 2023, the home has already received major recognition in the building industry, winning the prestigious President’s Award at the 2024 Gold Coast Housing and Construction Awards.

Its distinctive Tropical Colonial architectural style features pitched roofs, wide verandas and elegant French doors, creating the feel of an exclusive private resort.

The Gold Coast Prestige Market Is Heating Up

The $13 million sale highlights the continued strength of the Gold Coast’s prestige property market, which has seen record-breaking sales across multiple suburbs in recent years.

Demand for large waterfront estates has surged as wealthy buyers seek lifestyle properties offering privacy, luxury amenities and direct water access.

With prices continuing to climb and landholdings of this scale becoming increasingly scarce, high-profile buyers like Itsines are helping to fuel the next wave of growth in the region’s luxury real estate market.
