Giant hotel operator, Marriott International, has signed up to run a planned 176-room hotel in Frankton Flats, Queenstown, targeting “fun-seeking” millennials.

The hotel will be branded Moxy Queenstown, Marriott’s newest brand on 46 hotels worldwide so far. It will be the first Moxy-branded hotel in New Zealand and the third Moxy hotel in Australasia, with the brand aimed at millennials wanting affordable prices. 

Queenstown is brimming with planned hotels but the experts don’t expect all developments to happen.

The hotel development is one of about 15 that have been consented or are seeking consent in Queenstown, according to Colliers International’s review of the Queenstown market, where about two thirds of the tourists are from overseas.
