New Discoveries in Yanfei Bao Disappearance Case, Police Report
After a comprehensive reevaluation of the investigation on Monday, law enforcement continued their search efforts on Tuesday morning around the outskirts of Christchurch. The focus shifted to encompass roads and farmland near Greenpark. Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves refrained from disclosing the nature of the newly found items or their ownership, but she maintained her belief in locating the 44-year-old’s remains.
“Our dedicated investigative team is fully committed to this case,” she conveyed to Newshub. “We are resolute and optimistic about bringing Yanfei back home.
“We meticulously analyze incoming information, drawing upon the finest expertise both in the investigation and search coordination. I hold great optimism that we will successfully locate and reunite her with her loved ones.
“Our optimism remains unwavering, and we are unwavering in our pursuit. We will leave no stone unturned, exploring all leads and avenues, wherever they may take us.”
Yanfei Bao disappeared on July 19 while engaged in door-to-door activities as part of her real estate duties in the Wigram suburb of Christchurch.
Multiple search operations have been conducted across the city in various locations, including properties and water bodies, since her disappearance.
The family of Bao paid heartfelt homage to her last week, describing her as a “cherished wife and mother.”
“In light of the ongoing investigation, the family urges anyone with pertinent information to promptly come forward and aid the authorities in locating Yanfei,” they emphasized in a statement.
A 52-year-old man had previously been apprehended and charged with kidnapping Bao. He was taken into custody at Christchurch Airport while attempting to flee the country.
“I cannot divulge specific details regarding his statements, as the matter is currently before the court. Consequently, my ability to discuss this is limited,” Reeves remarked on Tuesday, pertaining to the arrested individual.
The man was slated to make his second court appearance in the forthcoming week.
