• There’s no kitchen sink, the walls are unpainted – but a shack in Auckland has sold for $1.2 million.

The two-bedroom cottage has clearly seen better days, but its location in the exclusive Auckland suburb of Devonport – near where Lorde grew up – has seen it snapped up for more than $400,000 over its capital value.

It is understood there were a large number of registered buyers in the room when it went under the hammer on Wednesday.

The home is described as a ‘blank canvas’ – while it looks a bit shabby, it could be transformed into a multimillion-dollar Devonport home in keeping with its neighbours.
