The Hutt hotel that never opens

  • A $12 million hotel touted as a key part of plans to rejuvenate the centre of Lower Hutt is showing few signs of being built.

Hutt City Council paid $3.5m for the land to help facilitate a hotel to service a $23m events centre it is currently building.

When the plan was unveiled in November 2015, the completion date for the four-star hotel in High St was “early” 2017.

In the intervening period, there has been a range of completion dates, but no progress.
