Billionaire Engagement Opens the Door to a $400M Property Empire

Australian billionaire James Packer has confirmed his engagement to New York socialite Kylie Lim, a move that could soon see one of the world’s most impressive private property portfolios gain a new queen.

The 58-year-old businessman announced that Lim, 46, had accepted his proposal, confirming the couple are now planning their future together.

While a wedding date has yet to be announced, the engagement has drawn renewed attention to Packer’s remarkable property empire — a global collection of luxury homes, estates and developments estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

From Los Angeles mansions and Sydney penthouses to polo estates in Argentina and beach compounds in Mexico, Packer’s real estate footprint stretches across multiple continents.

The sprawling three-storey mega-mansion features extraordinary luxury amenities including:

  • 10 bedrooms

  • 15 bathrooms

  • 14 fireplaces

  • Two swimming pools

  • A traditional Turkish bath

  • Parking for up to 20 cars

The Beverly Hills Mansion Once Owned by Danny DeVito

Another key part of Packer’s American holdings is a Beverly Hills estate he purchased in 2018 for around US$60 million.

Previously owned by Hollywood actor Danny DeVito, the property includes multiple structures across the grounds.

Highlights of the luxury estate include:

  • Seven bedrooms

  • A private home theatre with bar

  • Game room and cigar lounge

  • Wine cellar

  • Resort-style swimming pool

At one point Packer attempted to sell the property for around US$85 million, though the home was later taken off the market.

The $100 Million Sydney Harbour Penthouse

Back in Australia, one of Packer’s most famous properties is his two-level apartment at Crown Residences Barangaroo in Sydney.

The billionaire purchased the property in 2017 for $60 million, smashing Sydney’s apartment price record at the time.

Today, the ultra-luxury “Sky Home” is estimated to be worth around $100 million.

The apartment boasts sweeping views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge and has undergone extensive custom renovations including:

  • A private internal elevator

  • Scandinavian bleached birch timber finishes

  • Bronze textured glass

  • Silver-veined Greek stone slabs

Packer also owns a stake in the famous La Ellerstina Polo Club in Buenos Aires, a property originally established by his father Kerry Packer alongside polo legend Gonzalo Pieres.

The estate is one of the world’s most prestigious polo facilities and includes:

  • Eight polo fields

  • Seven stables with capacity for 268 horses

Aspen Ski Retreat Worth $20 Million

In Colorado’s exclusive ski resort town of Aspen, Packer owns a luxury compound purchased in 2013 for about $20 million.

The seven-bedroom estate includes:

  • A private movie theatre

  • Games room with billiards

  • Library and bar

  • Steam room

  • A man-made lake with waterfall

The property sits among scenic mountain landscapes and remains one of Packer’s favourite winter retreats.

A $50 Million Beachfront Compound in Mexico

Packer’s international portfolio also includes a sprawling beachfront compound in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The luxury estate, reportedly worth around $50 million, took several years to complete and occupies one of the largest beachfront blocks in the area.

The property consists of seven separate buildings surrounding a large open courtyard and features:

  • Infinity pool

  • Extensive landscaped gardens

  • Direct beach access

Property in Israel and Global Investments

The billionaire also owns a home in Caesarea, Israel, purchased in 2015.

The property sits near the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and was reportedly acquired after Packer developed close ties with prominent international film producer Arnon Milchan.

Details about the home’s price and features remain largely private.

A $700 Million Caribbean Luxury Resort

Perhaps the most ambitious project tied to Packer is the Nobu Beach Inn development in Barbuda, a joint venture with Hollywood legend Robert De Niro.

The massive US$500 million luxury resort project will feature:

  • 17 luxury villas

  • 25 beachfront bungalows

  • Private beach access

  • Oceanfront swimming pool

  • Spa and wellness facilities

  • Tennis and padel courts

  • Restaurants including the world-famous Nobu brand

Luxury villas within the development are expected to sell for around US$12 million each.

A Billionaire Love Story Resumes

Packer and Lim first met in 2017 through mutual friends following the billionaire’s high-profile split from singer Mariah Carey.

Although the couple dated for several years before separating, they recently rekindled their relationship.

Lim was recently spotted wearing a large engagement ring while visiting Aspen — where Packer owns his ski estate — sparking speculation that was later confirmed by the billionaire himself.

The Future of One of the World’s Most Impressive Property Portfolios

With assets spread across the United States, Australia, Mexico, Argentina, Israel and the Caribbean, James Packer’s real estate holdings form one of the most diverse private property portfolios in the world.

Now, with his engagement to Kylie Lim confirmed, the global empire may soon have a new leading lady.

And if history is anything to go by, the next chapter in the billionaire’s property journey could be just as dramatic as the last.
