A man linked to the unruly tourists who became famous for their escapades last summer, has admitted involvement in a roofing scam and received a rapid prison term.

Now a rapid departure is likely.

James Quinn, 58, says he will not need to be deported because he will be able to pay the $2000 reparation payment ordered by the Christchurch District Court on Monday, and then pay his own way home.

After being held in custody since early April, Quinn’s four-month jail term is effectively about to end with the usual reductions.
