A renter received a loud noisy shock when her landlord started building another house in her backyard.

Wellington landlord David Huang has had to pay compensation after he gave his tenant five days’ notice that he would be building a house in his tenant’s backyard.

Caitlin Bates had been in the Mt Victoria house less than a month when she received notice from Huang that he would be starting work on a whole new house in her backyard in less than a week.
