Homebuyers are set to have their best crack at Melbourne’s property market in 30 years in 2019.

Continued soft clearance rates are expected to bring about more private sales and fewer auctions, paving the way for buyers to negotiate rather than compete for homes.

And despite gloomy forecasts of falling prices, there are already signs a future boom could be building with new housing approvals falling and the population still rising.
