Parents could join together to buy the Whitby Samuel Marsden College and save it from closure, but they don’t have much time.
Parents, caregivers, students and staff were sent a letter from the school’s trust board chairwoman on Thursday outlining their options – including buying the school if they can scrape together a plan by July 26.
An emotional meeting of about 200, including parents, students and some school staff, filled a gymnasium at Ngatitoa Domain on Thursday evening to discuss the school’s future.
