DRAPER — A real estate agent got an unexpected — and dangerous — surprise on Monday while she was showing a house: a man in a bedroom with a rifle, according to police.
Matthew Lee Hirschi, 26, was arrested for investigation of two counts of aggravated assault.
A woman was showing a house in Draper near the Point of the Mountain when she reached a locked door in the basement, according to a police affidavit.
“(The agent) then unlocked the door and when she opened the door there was a male subject pointing a rifle at her and one of the clients,” the affidavit states.
Hirschi then told the group to get off the property, according to the affidavit.
Police were called and initially could not get Hirschi to answer the door or his phone. Just as police were setting up containment around the house, Hirschi called officers back.
“Matthew advised that he was not talking to us, however, he would come to the door. Matthew came to the door unarmed and opened the door,” the affidavit states.
Hirschi was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. The affidavit does not say if Hirschi owned the house or why he was there.
