A cat accused of damaging a home has been exonerated and the landlords who demanded a cat bond for her, have been ordered to pay it back.

Misty Blue and her owner, Celia Langabeer, moved into a rental home in Auckland’s Mt Wellington in August 2017.

Langabeer paid a $1200 bond and a month later, she paid a further $500 after one of her landlords, Diane Fortune, asked for a “cat bond”.
