Seaview Holiday Park

A much-loved coastal campground north of New Plymouth is back on the market after property developers pulled out of their holiday-home subdivision plans.

The 4.4-hectare site near the small west coast town of Mōkau, south Waikato, has for decades been occupied by the Seaview Holiday Park.

But in 2019 the owners of the site – Michael Hammond and Mark Peacocke of Mokau Sands Limited – released their vision for the area that included a cafe, cabins and 24 sections starting at $99,000 each.

While interest in the sections was high, allegedly attracting more than 100 enquiries, the real estate listings for the site later disappeared, leaving Mokau locals unclear about what was happening at the campsite.
