SOUTHEAST Sydney and the region around the city’s harbour have become the nation’s most unaffordable housing markets.

An analysis of real estate and household income data showed typical home prices in these regions required a greater share of local residents’ income than anywhere else in the country.

The study by comparison site revealed property prices in the southeast suburbs of Eastlakes, Kensington and Kingsford were the most unaffordable outside of mansion precincts.
