THERE are few streets remaining in The Hills where Stu Benson hasn’t stood with gavel in hand negotiating a nailbiting million-dollar plus property sale.
The 37-year-old father of four from Kellyville has just been named Australian Auctioneer of the Year, a title he won for his work conducted mostly in the local area.
He estimates last year he helped in the transaction of $500m worth of property sales.
Since switching careers from agent to auctioneer eight years ago, Mr Benson taken in part in some dramatic sales. It’s not always easy dealing with disappointed bidders, he says, and admits to even copping the odd heckle from the crowd.
