🇦🇺 From Zero to $300K: Real Estate Agent’s Wild Paycheck After 3-Day Training Course

An Australian real estate agent has gone viral after revealing he’s earning close to $300,000 a year—just two years into the job, and with only three days of training under his belt.

The Sunshine Coast–based agent shared the story via a video posted by jobs app Getahead, explaining how he jumped into the real estate industry quickly and without a degree.

“It’s a six-month course or a three-day course,” he said. “I did mine in three days. They basically give you the answers.”

📚 What Does It Take to Become an Agent?

According to the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ), the minimum qualification needed is a Real Estate Registration Certificate. That allows you to work under the supervision of a licensed agent.

There are two main paths:

  • 💻 Self-paced online (up to six months, around $500)

  • 🧑‍🏫 3-day in-person course (approx. $3,000)

This agent chose the latter and wasted no time getting to work.

💸 The Payoff – Big GCI, Long Hours

In just his second year, he’s already reported:

  • $291,000 in Gross Commission Income (GCI)

  • Around $130,000 in net take-home pay

But it didn’t come easy. “I worked 6–7 days a week, 12-hour days, with no holidays,” he admitted. “Right now is my first time on holiday in two years.”

☎️ Prospecting & Pressure – The Reality Behind the Commission

While the pay sounds great, the agent was upfront about the emotional toll and rejection involved in real estate sales.

“You’re the emotional sponge,” he said. “You take everything on. And most of the job is prospecting—calling people who don’t want to talk to you.”

He even joked that real estate agents are “glorified telemarketers.”

🏠 One Sale, One Big Payday

He also shared the highest-value property he’s sold so far:

  • 💰 A $1.302 million home

With commission rates typically ranging from 2% to 4%, that one sale alone would have earned him:

  • Between $26,040 and $52,080

🧭 Why More People Are Turning to Real Estate

With no degree required and a relatively low barrier to entry, real estate is becoming an attractive option for those looking to earn big, fast.

According to SEEK, the average real estate agent in Australia earns $75,000 to $95,000 per year—but those willing to grind can potentially earn far more.

If you’ve got the hustle, thick skin, and people skills, real estate might just be your next six-figure move.
