Kiwibank has gone through the courts to claw back more than $1.29 million in unpaid loans from Waiwera Thermal Resort, owned by Russian businessman Mikhail Khimich.
The Wellington High Court ordered Khimich to pay back $1.29m in outstanding principal and interest under three loan agreements, which were guaranteed by him.
Kiwibank won its claim by default because Khimich failed to take part in the proceedings, as he has left New Zealand.
Companies Office records show Waiwera Thermal Resort, which ran water park Waiwera hot pools north of Auckland, went into liquidation in February 2019.
