A Brisbane guy and girl have taken things into their own hands and bought a house together. But they’re not a couple. They’re not even dating – they’re just mates.

Caz Sydenham, 34, and Kyle Shepherd, 26, both paramedics, had been renting together for three years when they both started thinking about getting on the housing ladder. Originally they were looking separately but when a friend suggested they should buy one together, they realised it made perfect sense.

“To me it didn’t seem that strange, but as I’ve gone on to tell people their reactions have been quite interesting. It’s been hard for some people to get their head around,” Ms Sydenham laughed.
