As a community advocate, Samantha Rose works tirelessly helping those shut out of Hamilton’s housing market.

But now the mother-of-two is struggling to find a place to call home and is cooped up in an Airbnb.

Since late January, the 46-year-old has been on the search for a rental home in Hamilton, sometimes competing against 60 other would-be tenants for the same property.

Unable to secure a home, Rose and her teenage children, Oriah, 17, and Kei, 14, have resorted to living in a single room at a shared Airbnb, shelling out up to $750 a week in costs.
