A booking site now lets private land owners rent space to camping holidaymakers, worrying legitimate camping grounds.

Campable, an Airbnb-like website to match land owners with motor home travellers, now allows hosts to offer their backyards to campers with tents.

Holiday Parks New Zealand chief executive Fergus Brown said he was concerned that Campable and its users were not aware of camping ground laws, jeopardising visitor safety.
