Christchurch toastie lovers, brace yourselves! Less than two weeks after opening, Toastie Lords’ Christchurch store has returned to HQ control after franchisees Mason and Nadia Hardie stepped down.
The High Street store, launched on October 24, 2025, was the brand’s first franchise outside its Picton HQ. Fans flocked for the famous “Pete from Picton” toastie, but unforeseen personal circumstances led the Hardies to exit the business.
⚡ Quick Transition to HQ Management
In a Facebook post, Toastie Lords reassured locals and staff:
“Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, our franchisees have decided to step down and exit the business. As a result, Toastie Lords HQ have taken over the Christchurch store from today.”
Three employees have re-signed contracts, with two others contacted about re-employment. HQ staff from Picton are helping ensure a smooth transition. Temporary hours are 9am–4pm while the store adjusts.
