Former media heavyweights Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons have quietly settled on a spectacular $15 million Mosman penthouse perched atop one of Sydney’s most eccentric castle-style heritage buildings — Britannic Mansions.
Settlement documents filed last week confirm the pair secured the property earlier this year, purchasing it at the lower end of its $15m–$16.5m price guide.
This follows the couple’s dramatic multimillion-dollar loss on their previous estate.
🏰 A CASTLE ABOVE THE HARBOUR — INSIDE THE PENTHOUSE
The penthouse sits atop a quirky six-apartment 1910s complex and features:
-
A rooftop teppanyaki barbecue
-
An open-air rooftop bathtub
-
Expansive Sydney city and harbour views
-
A heritage-protected sandstone façade
-
A turret with fortified crenellations
-
Waterfront access with a jetty, gardens and even a cave
It is one of Mosman’s most distinctive prestige residences — part luxury apartment, part mini-castle.
🕰️ A BUILDING WITH A RICH HISTORY
Britannic Mansions was built on Curraghbeena Point for Francis Cherry Willis and his wife Elizabeth, who operated the original boarding house.
The Willis family has a deep architectural legacy:
Francis’ brother, federal MP Henry Willis, constructed the famed Innisfallen Castle at Castle Cove.
The Mosman building was later converted to strata in the early 1980s by investor Andrew Best.
👥 WHO SOLD THE $15M CASTLE TO THE COUPLE?
Wilkinson and FitzSimons purchased the penthouse from Susan and Mark Luby. Mark Luby previously served as CEO of Alesco Corp, a major Australian building products group.
🌇 530SQM OF PREMIUM LIVING — FULLY UPGRADED
The Raglan Street penthouse spans an enormous 530sqm of indoor and outdoor living space.
It last sold for just $2.85m in 2003, and has since undergone a full transformation into a trophy residence.

🏡 THEIR CREMORNE ESTATE ALSO SOLD — BUT AT A LOSS
The couple also recently sold their 3,214sqm Cremorne estate, home to the historic Arts & Crafts residence Ingleneuk.
Although it has not yet settled, insiders say the property sold for less than its $24.5m vendor bid, delivering a significant loss.
Westpac’s head of institutional banking, Nell Hutton, has been identified as the buyer.
Hutton and her husband Hamish also own Dunaird, a heritage-style Wollstonecraft property purchased in 2020 for $9.2m.
🏠 ANOTHER PROPERTY MAY BE NEXT — A HISTORIC BUNGALOW
There is speculation around whether the pair will next sell their Californian bungalow on 1900sqm, originally built for Sir Clifford Love, co-founder of Uncle Tobys.
So far, there is no indication of the home hitting the open market.

🏁 THE BOTTOM LINE
Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons may have suffered big losses on their Cremorne estate — but they’ve re-emerged with one of Sydney’s most unique luxury properties:
A castle-like penthouse with history, harbour views, and one of the most distinctive rooftops in the city.
A $15 million move that combines heritage, architecture, and prestige — in true celebrity style.
