Wellington’s real estate community is in mourning after the sudden death of popular Ray White agent Chu Minh Looc, also known as Jack, following a diving trip at Lower Hutt’s Lowry Bay. The 46-year-old leaves behind his wife, two children, and a heartbroken network of friends, clients, and colleagues.
📌 A Respected Agent and Community Favourite
Jack Looc wasn’t just a real estate agent — he was a connector. Working primarily with the Chinese community in Wellington, Jack had built a reputation for trust, dedication, and an infectious smile.
Ray White Johnsonville sales manager Philip Reeve described him as “a fun guy to have around the office” who genuinely cared about people. “His death was completely unexpected,” said Reeve. “When his family went to his car afterwards, his lunch was still sitting there waiting for him… he never came back from his dive.”

🌊 Passion for the Ocean and the Dinner Table
Jack’s friends say he was an avid and skilled scuba diver, often venturing out to collect fresh seafood — not for profit, but to share with his family and friends.
Close friend Jack Gordon recalled, “I’m the one who first got him in the water. He loved diving and loved supplying his family with seafood. He was determined, passionate, and always had a big heart.”
Jack’s food adventures were well-known in the community — he frequently posted his seafood feasts, hot pots, and buffet outings on social media, always with a wide grin.
