An Auckland real estate agent says his family has endured years of alleged racist harassment, intimidation, and abuse — including egg attacks, verbal slurs, trespassing, and even a person urinating on his property 💥

The disturbing allegations have reignited debate around rising racial tensions in New Zealand and growing concerns about anti-Indian racism.

According to reports, Auckland-based real estate agent:

👤 Raj Singh

claims the harassment began back in:

📅 2018

and has continued intermittently ever since.

😡 “F*** INDIA” — ABUSE ALLEGEDLY ESCALATED AGAIN THIS YEAR

Singh says the abuse intensified again in March this year, with racist comments allegedly directed at him and his family.

The alleged remarks reportedly included:

🚨 “F*** India”
🚨 “F*** Indians”
🚨 “I hate Indians”

Singh told media the ongoing incidents had left his family deeply distressed.

💬 “Without any motive, [the person] tried to bully us,” he said.

He said his children, who were living at home during some of the incidents, became:

😟 “Very scared and stressed.”

🥚 EGGS THROWN AT CARS, RUBBISH DUMPED, FENCES TARGETED

The alleged behaviour reportedly included:

❌ Eggs thrown at vehicles
❌ Rubbish dumped outside the home
❌ Aggressive banging on fences
❌ Trespassing
❌ Public verbal abuse

Singh also alleged the individual urinated on his property despite previously being trespassed from the address.

👮 POLICE CONFIRM PREVIOUS CONVICTION

According to police, the person involved was previously convicted of:

⚖️ Disorderly behaviour in 2020

Police confirmed fresh inquiries are now ongoing following another complaint made earlier this month.

👤 Adam Pyne
Manukau Central Area Commander

said police intended to speak further with the individual.

💬 “No one in the community should have to experience this verbal abuse.”

Police also confirmed action could be taken if the trespass order is breached again.

🇳🇿 “NEW ZEALAND IS OUR HOME”

Singh, who has lived in New Zealand for nearly four decades, said the incidents were particularly upsetting because his family considers New Zealand home.

He has reportedly also raised the matter with the:

⚖️ Human Rights Commission

Singh is also understood to serve as a:

⚖️ Justice of the Peace

and said he takes racial discrimination extremely seriously.

📈 ANTI-INDIAN RACISM UNDER GROWING SPOTLIGHT

The case comes amid increasing public discussion around anti-Indian sentiment in New Zealand.

Recent incidents have included:

🚨 Disruptions to Sikh parades in South Auckland
🚨 Growing online hate targeting Indian communities
🚨 Reports of rising racial abuse complaints

Earlier this year, reporting from RNZ highlighted police data showing South Asians were among the groups most targeted by racial abuse complaints in New Zealand.

🧠 EXPERTS SAY RACIAL TENSIONS RISE DURING ELECTION PERIODS

👤 Camille Nakhid
Professor of Social Sciences at Auckland University of Technology

said racial tensions often become more visible during politically charged periods.

Nakhid said racism in New Zealand never fully disappears — instead, different communities become targets at different times throughout history.

She pointed to examples including:

  • Pacific communities during the Dawn Raids
  • East Asian communities during Covid-19
  • Māori communities during co-governance debates
  • Indian communities more recently

💬 “You want to get rid of racism, you have to get rid of our colonised mentality,” she said.

🏘️ RACIAL ABUSE CAN HAVE WIDER COMMUNITY IMPACT

Community leaders say incidents like this can have broader effects beyond the immediate victims 👇

Potential impacts include:

❌ Fear within migrant communities
❌ Reduced sense of safety
❌ Social division
❌ Increased anxiety for families
❌ Loss of trust in neighbourhoods

New Zealand’s growing multicultural population means racial tensions increasingly become major social and political issues.

👀 REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY ALSO BECOMING MORE DIVERSE

The case has also sparked conversation within the property industry itself.

New Zealand real estate has become increasingly multicultural over the past two decades, with many agents, investors, developers, and business owners coming from migrant communities — particularly Indian, Chinese, and South Asian backgrounds.

Industry leaders say diversity has become a major part of modern NZ real estate.
